After the restoration of independence of Estonia in 1991, President Kaljulaid became the first Estonian head of state to visit a professional football match in the Premium League.
Her predecessors Lennart Meri, Arnold Rüütel and Thomas Hednrik Ilves were rather indifferent towards Estonian club football.
Prior to the match the kids and youth footballers of the club and their parents participated in an annual family day, where they were kept busy with lots of fun activities, and even had an opportunity to get a photograph with the honourable guest herself!

The president of JK Narva Trans Nikolai Burdakov hosted a detailed tour for Ms Kaljulaid, who wearing a club scarf around her neck examined the stadium facilities, engaged in the conversations with the players, fans and members of staff. Before the kick-off the President and vice-mayor of Narva City Aleksei Jevgrafov took part in an official hand shake ceremony.
The event was visited by over 500 spectators. Too bad the match resulted in a 1:1 draw.
